Browsing hours and hours for the perfect baby photoshoot ideas but not being able to land on anything yet?

Don’t worry, there’s no need to give up just yet.

In fact, you know what?

We’ve got you covered.

In this article, I am going to share with you all the perfect baby photoshoot ideas which we here at Fotophy think could be perfect for your newborn!

So, without further ado, let’s dive right in.

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: 0-3 Months

The Baby Burrito

Let’s start with one of my favorites. The baby burrito.

To get this, all you need to do is wrap the baby up in a little cute blanket like you would wrap a burrito. Keep their hands in or out of the blanket, depending on what’s comfortable to them.

Lying on Their Tum Tums

Although usually, a baby should not be kept flat on their stomachs, doing it for one or two photographs won’t hurt. If anything, it will give the cutest pictures!

In Mama’s Arms

Honestly, one of the world’s most wholesome moments to witness is when a mother smiles at her child. So, why not capture this moment during the photoshoot?

Dad to the Rescue

Doesn’t it just melt your heart when a grown man picks up a baby? Something about the tiny baby, held against their father’s chest looks so protective. Like yes, the baby is as safe as it could be.

Right now might be the perfect moment to get that on camera.

Sleeping Beauty

Babies tend to sleep. A lot. This is why it’s best to photograph them in the most natural ways possible. Just bring in the cameraman when the baby is fast asleep. And they’ll take care of the rest.
One of the perfect baby photoshoot ideas, right?

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: 3-6 Months

At around the age of five to six months, babies become a little…well, less tiny. This is why now is the perfect time to bring out a whole other set of baby photoshoot ideas.

One thing that might be suitable at this age would be cute little outfits. Get the bunny ears and the Minnie mouse décor out because we are going full-on, showtime!

Many parents love the idea of a wonderland.

To get the scenery of a wonderland theme, simply put a silvery beaded headband around the baby’s head and get white blankets on top of a wooden table. Feel free to add in fairy lights and other accessories which you think might bring out the theme more prominently.

Okay, but what if you went full out with the costumes? Instead of getting cute bunny ears, what if you dressed them up in complete outfits. A little superman, or perhaps, a little Scottish warrior?

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: 6-9 Months

This is the time at which most kids begin to master the art of crawling. We suggest you capture their strides across the floor, whatever chance you get. Especially, during a photoshoot!

Kids love playing with rattles, plushies, and a million more things. One of the fun baby photoshoot ideas might therefore be to photograph them as they play with their fav toys.

With the Pets

And this one is my favorite.
If you’re still stuck finding baby photoshoot ideas, go and bring out your furry friends and have your baby pose with them. Ah, two posers together. What a keeper!

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: 9 Months and Above

Human beings are at their best when relaxing and well, candid.

Not that a baby would know the difference between when to act formally or not, but instead of putting them in an artificial theme for the photo shoot, try and team up with the photographer to get the best candid moments from your baby’s early days.

Massive décor themes

Then again, just because candid moments are good, doesn’t mean that it’s the only thing that’s good. Some parents love to put out massive décor themes and set the whole house up for a lavish baby birthday photoshoot. And guess what? That’s more than perfectly alright!

Ever wanted to photograph your little one in the sports you dream of them playing one day? Or maybe you just want to try something new for baby photoshoot ideas now that your child is closer to their first birthday.

So go on and bring out the baseball caps and the soccer balls. And let ‘em loose!

I don’t know about you, but I love little baby girls in cute, princess-like dresses. Oh, and those adorable little tiaras!

Whole family

Alas, what good is anything if the whole family is not a part of it? And with the babe getting closer to their first birthday, now is the perfect time to get everyone together and get a group photograph with the little one.

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: Get the Baby to Be Comfortable

Yes, there are so many ideas for you to choose from. But, photographing babies can be a challenge- even for the best photographers out there.

And the reason for this is that well…babies are, how do I put it- umm babies?

No amount of saying “Oh dear God, please stop crying” is going to work once the little one starts. This is why it is essential to get them to be as comfortable as possible.

The reason is not going to work here. And neither will be getting angry and frustrated.

I know this is one of the most frequent occurrences at baby photoshoots.

Most parents, especially first-time parents, will get a little too disappointed if their baby does not act the way they planned once the photographer enters the room.

Baby Photoshoot Ideas: How do I Ensure My Child is Comfortable?

First things first

Don’t forget the blankets!

Or if it’s summer season, at least the soft pillows you would normally use to keep them comfortable.

This is because not all photographers will have the same level of experience with children.

And even if they do, your photographer might want to do something more creative– like a rustic wooden swing etc.

And while these ideas sound great and I’ll admit, look great as well. It can be uncomfortable for a little baby sometimes.

So, the easiest way to make sure that the child is comfortable is to place soft items like blankets and pillows around and beneath them.

Yes, I know. If you’re a mother, these things might be second nature to you. But at the same time, it can be easy to forget the details sometimes. Even for the most capable mother.

So, add this item to your checklist for the day of the photoshoot straight away before you decide to do anything else.

Have less than six people in the room

I know what you’re thinking. What an odd thing to add to the checklist.

But trust me on this one.

Sure, your child could be a very outgoing one. And they may smile at passersby strangers etc. But many children tend to get overwhelmed when there are a lot of people in the room.

And that leads to crying.

This might especially be the case if they are usually in an apartment or home setting with very few people around simultaneously.

Keep Mr. Cuddles on standby

Who is Mr. Cuddles and why do we want them here?

Mr. Cuddles, or your baby’s favorite plushy is the key to getting them to calm down in times of crises.

So, make sure it is nearby when the day comes.
